Fried Egg

Here how I made heart-shaped fried egg:

  1. Separate egg white and yolk.
  2. Add salt and pepper, and whisk. (I didn’t add pepper in egg yolk to avoid black spots in the middle.)
  3. Heat a pan and grease it with oil.
  4. Put a heart-shaped “steel”cookie cutter in the center and pour whisked egg yolk. (Before using the cookie cutter, make sure it is greased with oil properly from the inside.)
  5. After 2 minutes, remove the cookie cutter and flip over the egg.
  6. Put a bigger-sized, heart-shaped cookie cutter around the cooked egg yolk.
  7. Pour in the whisked egg white around the egg yolk.
  8. After it is cooked, remove the cookie cutter.
  9. Serve hot with toasted bread.

Egg-in-a-Hole (Sunny Side Up)

Egg-in-a-Hole

Egg-in-a-Hole

I had posted the recipe of egg-in-a-hole 3 years back. Click here to view its detailed recipe.

Here’s the recipe of egg-in-a-hole in brief:

  1. Use a cookie cutter to make a heat-shaped hole in a slice of bread.
  2. Toast one side of bread on a pan using a little butter.
  3. Flip, and first add egg white and then yolk in the middle. (Don’t add the entire egg white. It’ll spread over the bread and mess up the heart shape.)
  4. Turn off heat when egg cooks properly.

Cheesy French Toast

Cheesy French Toast

Cheesy French Toast

Now the classic French toast is sweet, made by adding sugar, nutmeg powder, vanilla etc. I prefer mine savory and sometimes even add green chili and coriander to it. I had posted the recipe of that Indianized version 4 years back. You can view its detailed recipe here. This time, I added cheese but didn’t add coriander and chili keeping in mind the Valentine’s theme.

Here’s the recipe of cheesy French toast with heart-shaped center:

  1. Separate egg white and yolk, and then add salt and pepper, and whisk. (I didn’t add pepper in egg yolk to avoid black spots in the middle.)
  2. Add about 2 tbsp of milk in egg white.
  3. Cut a slice of bread in the center using a small, heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  4. Heat a pan and grease it with oil.
  5. Dip a slice of bread in egg white and put it on the pan.
  6. After 2-3 minutes, flip and cover the heart-shape in the center with another bread piece cut using the same cookie cutter.
  7. Grate cheese over the toast and then take off the bread piece that was put on top.
  8. Cover the toast with a lid for about a minute till the cheese melts.
  9. Serve hot.
